The Four Kinds of Audio - Radio Lab "More or Less Human"

Getting Started As I began working on this assignment I wasn't sure how to go about it. I wasn't sure what kind of animations I wanted to make or where would be a suitable place to put them. I wanted to make sure the viewers weren't bored as they were watching the audio story, but at the same time I didn't want to make it look too distracting. After going over the animation process in class, I felt confident that I could accomplish animations on my pictures, but I also wanted something more to add than just that. For this assignment, I watched the videos "Create a Title Intro" and "How to Animate a Title" and these helped me a lot with coming up with ideas and how to go about creating text to use in my animation process. The Process I was extremely excited to begin this assignment and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. However, I was a little apprehensive as I am not too familiar with InDesign, but I got the hang of things right away. First, I emailed myself the picture that I wanted to use for the assignment so I could access it easily. After this, I opened InDesign and used the default settings, but changed the measurements to inches. Once the document opened, I placed my image at the top so I could refer to it once I was doing the swatches. To start my swatches, I used the rectangle tool to the left and made a square. With this, I copied and pasted eight more squares to get them to be 9x9. I then made three swatches, using hues from the image that matched the most. From there I tinted the second column of swatches to 60% and then tinted the third column of swatches to 30%. I originally tinted them to 50% and 25%, but I thought it tinted the hues too much and made them appear almost white. ...

What I Have Learned As we began to use Adobe Premiere in class I was a little anxious for this project. I was used to the way things were on Adobe Audition and found Premier to be much harder to adjust to. The videos, "What is Premiere Pro" and "Create a project and import a clip" helped me out a lot with refreshing my mind on how to start my project. Prior to starting my project I searched for images online that related to my topic of traveling. Once I found ones that were suitable, I saved them onto my flash drive so I would have access to them later. At this time, I decided to take a video of my friend, Sophia, who was in my audio story and filmed her looking up flights for Australia that I would later use for my "B-Roll". I then opened up Premier and uploaded my audio track by double right clicking on the box on the bottom left of the screen. Five Compositional Elements As we live in a world that revolves around the media, it seems as though anyone could be a professional photographer. With apps like Instagram and VSCO that have filters and several image adjustment tools, all it takes is one click to make your picture go from average to professional. However, there is much more behind photography than most would think. I decided to create a study area as my setting and apply five compositional elements that display the thought process that goes into creating a picture. Rule of Thirds I believe the Rule of Thirds is one of my favorite compositional elements that a picture could have. When taking this picture I wanted to make the Starbucks cup look more interesting and add emphasis so I decided to align it to the right of the picture rather than having it right in the center.
