Short(end) Story
Audition
As I was beginning this assignment I was a little apprehensive when it comes to using Audition. This was my first time ever using the software and I thought it was going to be extremely difficult and hard to catch up on, but that wasn't the case. After viewing the videos and readings, it gave me a better understanding at the software (especially the video on creating a multitrack session and the one on how to use the tools), but I needed to do hands-on practices to really get a feel for it. Every week in class when we have practiced by just using little examples, I have found it to help me out so much in the long run. Although there are things I am still unsure about, I have gained a better understanding on how to use the basics of the software and am excited to learn some more.
What I Did
To begin my audio story, I first emailed all of the clips to myself so it would be easier to access when I got onto the computer. There was a lot of clips so I didn't want to risk getting any lost so I then made some folders to put each of the clips in to ensure they were all in the same spot. Following this, I opened up all of my clips which took a bit due to the fact that I had seven different clips. The first issue I ran into was trying to trim each clip down because two clips were each thirty seconds long. I solved this by using the razor and time selection tools. Another thing I found that helped me was placing one audio over the other one at the end so they fade into one another without breaking up. After I was pleased with the way that the audio story turned out, it was time to export it. In advance, I already created a SoundCloud account specifically for this project so I went into "File" then hit "Export" and this is where I was allowed to save my file as a .wav under my USB. Overall, I was very pleased with the audio for both Sophia and I and I am not fond of the length of my audio story, but I'm hoping to improve on that for next time.
